Adopt A Fish, Adopt A School • Loxahatchee River & Estuary

Welcome to the Adopt a Fish, Adopt a School program for the Loxahatchee River & Estuary. This program is designed to directly integrate students and community members into a scientific research program in an innovative fashion. From a science standpoint, the goal is to track movements of fishes in the Loxahatchee River. Currently we are tracking gray snapper and common snook, but plan to add other species of fish in the future.

From an educational perspective, this program provides a unique hands-on learning experience for students. Anyone can adopt a fish living in the Loxahatchee River, and track its movements from this web site. So, why not adopt a fish? In fact, adopt a whole school!

Start out by tracking a fish. A satellite view of the beautiful Loxahatchee River will be displayed. Click the start button to view a fish movement map, showing the date, time and locations visited by the fish.
