Welcome to the Adopt a Fish, Adopt a School program for Abaco Island, Bahamas.

Our goal is to increase environmental awareness by directly integrating scientific research and educational opportunities.

Adopt A Fish, Adopt A School • Abaco Island, Bahamas

Welcome to the Adopt a Fish, Adopt a School program for Cross Harbour on Abacao Island, Bahamas. This program is designed to directly integrate students and community members into a scientific research program in an innovative fashion. From a science standpoint, the goal is to track movements of fishes in the Cross Harbour area. Currently we are tracking barracuda, cubera snapper, gray snapper and schoolmaster snapper, but plan to add other species of fish in the future.

From an educational perspective, this program provides a unique hands-on learning experience for students. Anyone can adopt a fish living near Abacao Island, and track its movements from this web site. So, why not adopt a fish? In fact, adopt a whole school!

Start out by tracking a fish. A satellite view of the southwestern tip of beautiful Abaco Island will be displayed. Click the start button to view a fish movement map, showing the date, time and locations visited by the fish.
