Welcome to the Adopt a Fish, Adopt a School program for Abaco Island, Bahamas.

Our goal is to increase environmental awareness by directly integrating scientific research and educational opportunities.

Educational Materials • Abaco Island, Bahamas
  • The Connectivity Project: Love your reefs? -- Know your mangroves!
    by Samantha Whitcraft (1/18/2007)

  • To learn more about how the surgery is done to implant the tags, watch this video of UGA doctorate student Jake Allgeier surgically implanting a telemetry tag in a fish. Video production courtesy of Loggerhead Productions.

  • Download Treasures in the Sea, a resource book for educators, full of scientific information and activities centered on Bahamian marine life and conservation.

More educational exercises based on the Adopt a Fish, Adopt a School program will be developed in the coming months. For related educational materials, please visit the web page of one of the supporting partners on this project, The Bahamas Reef Environmental Education Program.
